The Salem Witch Trials
Beginning in the spring of 1692, the Salem Witch Trials saw the execution by hanging of 20 citizens. It all started with a group of young women who claimed to have been possessed by the devil. These girls proceeded to accuse many others of witch craft causing at least 150 people to be accused (History). Some of the people who were accused died in jail and, in the case of Giles Corey, pressed to death (History).
